No News Today
Posted by Owen Barder at 10:58 AM
Today's UK Independent Newspaper leads with a full front page graphic designed by Damien Hirst. The headline reads: "No News Today". Then it has a footnote: "Just 6,500 Africans died today as a result of a preventable, treatable disease."
Bono is the guest editor of today's edition of the Independent, as part of the Red campaign; and half the revenues go to the Global Fund. His own article begins:
May I say without guile, I am as sick of messianic rock stars as the next man, woman and child.
But he goes on to ask:
I'm a witness to this. What can I do?
There is an interview with Gordon Brown and Tony Blair, an article by Bob Geldof, and much else.
