The Acronym Party (Part 2): GAVI’s New Call for Nominations for IAC Members for the AMC Secretariat

July 1, 2009

By Scott Kniaz

If the title is a bit confusing, let me do some deciphering. In its role as the AMC (Advance Market Commitment) Secretariat, the GAVI Alliance Secretariat is seeking an additional member for its Independent Assessment Committee (IAC), this time with specific expertise in vaccine industry economics. With the formal launch of the AMC for pneumococcal vaccines, the IAC will oversee several core components of the AMC process; specifically, it reviews and approves the technical product profile (TPP) for the vaccine, determines AMC eligibility of vaccine candidates, and monitors information regarding the influence of the AMC on the development and production of specific vaccines. In addition, the IAC will establish when and if an adjustment of the pre?set long term price of vaccines is necessary and will have a dispute resolution function.

The GAVI Alliance Secretariat is accepting applications from candidates with expertise in: clinical performance and delivery systems, contract law, public health, and public/private finance. For more information, please see the current call for nominations (deadline extended to July 17).
